My COORG trek

Well,i should have written this long back, but was busy with work ,then was out of town..

I am gonna write here about my (well 2 months back) trek to COORG.It is kind of a travelogue or a trek report whatever name you give...
My interest for trekking and adventures is by the birth and in every droplet of my blood...n thanks to the Backpacking trekking club we have in our office that i can pursue my hobbies inspite of busy work schedule..
HERE it begins:
DESCRIPTION of the place: for those who dont know COORG
COORG is a beautiful district in southern karnataka, border of kerala, famous for the Picturesque hills of the western ghats..They are long and contiguous hills spread over a vast geographical area, interspersed with valleys and small tributaries. There are coffee and tea plantations ,u know the famous COORG coffee...
The architecture of the houses is like those in Kerala, good looking and big castles , in middle of estates...Many retired beaurocrats have constructed there houses there ...and are living a peaceful like far away from the pollution and city chaos.

Climate is pleasant and so are the people...warm hearted ..and quite helpful though not gregarious.
Our climbing started from a palace at the foot of the hill ranges. It belonged to the mysore king and he used to rest there in summers. It also used to be the seat of administration for people living in and around coorg.

We have taken few snaps near and inside the palace. And then started on embarking to top of the second highest hill in the state of Karnataka. The TADIYANDAMOL peak. We already were told the basic principle of trekking: Slow and steady ascent. Iniitally the enthusiasm to reach the top first and high energy levels will tempt us to hyperambulate on the terrain, but they wont last for more than few farlongs.

So medium pace with small breaks inbetween can only lead you till the finish.
So keeping those basics in mind,we slowly moved up and after we reached one fifth of the height,we were on almost a plateau with mild slopes .We halted for a while and took snaps of us and the surroundings for we were already at a decent height around 200 feet.
Then our trek leader asked those who were at the begining to get back and those in behind were asked to lead now. Then we trekked now for 2-3 kms more and passed thru water streams and light patches of jungle. We could see the leeches inbetween. The most gorgeous scene was that of the sun rays finding their way through the pathces of the forest and luminating certain parts of the water stream down hill.Who would miss a pic in that background??
After 3km stretch,we took a major halt again on plateau which contained rocks for us to sit down. Then few of us who had mp3 players in their mobiles started playing songs.Having heard splashing sounds of water..we went in the direction of sound to find a water stream flowing down hill through the forest. That water seemed to be the purest on the earth. We quickly filled all our bottles for we needed water badly for our yet to be finished lunch on the peak.
We again slowly started, and now began the steepest and would say the toughest part of the trek.As from that point, there was no indication of any used path/way and we had to literally climb small rocks assuming them as steps. After trekking on for a km,we refilled ourselves with instant energy chocolates and wafers.

The fundamental principle of trekking is DISCIPLINE and is to be followed in every step. We collected all plastic wrappers that were dropped down by those who trekked before us and we carried a bag to put all such non degradable waste.
Having reenergised ourselves,we started on the final stretch,as i already said the toughest..this time through a thick forest (around half Km upclimb) ...Jagadeesh who was leading the team till then got bitten by a leech and had to slow down...i continued my decent pace thru the forest and the steepest stretch to finish second to reach the hill....
waited for all others to come, then we digged in a stick and tied a TI flag to it mark the finish as another feather to the cap of TIs trekking saga.

After enjoying the beatiful view and takin hundreds of snaps..we slowly rested down to open lunch packets which everyone carried..The rule was that everyperson should taste what the second person has got and that was a proper culinary mix for a lunch.. After staying for around 90 min on the peak we started down climbing. This seemed to much tougher for there was a fear of sliding down and the inertia that pushes you when you take larger steps without proper resting for your feet....
Everyone trekked down fast to reach the stream again and get refreshed...
We slowly followed the same path again now with no break till we arrived at palace where we had snacks...Then we continued till the bootcamp....
We were quicker and there is still half an hr for the bus enroute madikeri to come.We played frisbee and finished what all grub we got and the bus comes. All of us couldnt find a seat to sit...but those who could had the best nap of the times for evry1 was dead tired... It took around 2 hrs of bus journey for us to reach madikeri....

We go to the famous Yatri nivas hotel near the bus stand to fresh ourselves and to have some breakfast. We then visit the famous Coorg shiva mandir famous for its medeival coorg style of construction...That was a beautiful temple with a pond infront of it...
After bhagavan darshan..all those who were still feeling hungry had quick buffet dinner at Yatri nivas and it was already 10Pm..the time for our bus to start...
We get into the bus,..play few games like antaakshari and no one knew the finish of the game cause every dozed off unknowingly...
By the time i wake up i hear bus horns and people brisking fast...yes i am in Majestic the BLR bus stand...every parted now to take rest the whole sunday..Thanks to the leaders for having planned the trek on a saturday leaving the whole of sunday to be best utilised....

Convent to Company transition

Gone are the days!!!
When
The school reopened in June,
And we settled in our new desks and benches!

When we queued up in book depot,
And got our new books and notes!

When we wanted two Sundays and no Mondays, Yet managed to line up daily for the morning prayers. We learnt writing with slates and pencils, and Progressed To fountain pens and ball pens and thenMicro tips!

When we began drawing with crayons and evolved to Color pencils and finally sketch pens!

When we started calculating
first with tables and then with
Clarke's tables and advanced to
Calculators and computers!

When we chased one another in the
corridors in Intervals, and returned to the classrooms
Drenched in sweat!

When we had lunch in classrooms, corridors, Playgrounds,
under the trees and even in cycle sheds!

When all the colors in the world,
Decorated the campus on the Second Saturdays! When a single P.T. period in the week's Time Table,
Was awaited more eagerly than the monsoons!

When cricket was played with writing pads as bats,
And Neckties and socks rolled into balls!
When few played
"kabadi" and "Kho-Kho" in scorching sun, While others simply played
"book cricket" in the
Confines of classroom!
Of fights but no conspiracies, Of Competitions but seldom jealousy!

When we used to
watch Live Cricket telecast, In the opposite house in Intervals and Lunch breaks! When few rushed at 3:45 to
"Conquer" window seats in our School bus! While few others had "Big Fun", "peppermint", "kulfi", " milk ice !" and "sharbat !" at 4o Clock!

Gone are the days Of Sports Day,
and the annual School Day , And the one-month long
preparations for them.

Gone are the days Of the stressful Quarterly,
Half Yearly and Annual Exams, And the most
enjoyed holidays after them!

Gone are the days Of tenth and twelfth standards, when
We Spent almost the whole year writing revision tests!
We learnt,
We enjoyed,
We played, We won, We lost,
We laughed, We cried, We fought, We thought.
With so much fun in them, so many friends,
So much experience, all this and more!Gone are the days When we used
to talk for hours with our friends! Now we don't have time to say a 'Hi'!

Gone are the daysWhen we sat to chat with Friends on grounds!
Now we chat in chat rooms.....!

Gone are the days Where we studied just to pass!
Now we study to save our job!

Gone are the days Where we had no money in our pockets and still funfilled on our hearts!! Now we have the atm as well as credit card but with anempty heart!!

Gone are the days Where we shouted on the road!
Now we don't shout even at home Gone are the days Where we got lectures from all! Now we give lectures to all... like the one I'm doingnow....!!

Gone are the days But not the memories, which will be
Lingering in our hearts for ever and ever and Ever and ever and ever .....Gone are the Days.... But still there are lot moreDays to come in our Life!!
NO MATTER HOW BUSY YOU ARE ,
DONT FORGET TO
LIVE THE LIFE THAT STILL
EXISTS....

it was the same summer

well

Its been more than 2 months that i last posted and this shows how lazy i have been all the while.

Inspite of deciding to write my routine on a paper n talking publicly (my last post) abt sticking to it..i failed to do that..so this time the first step itself ended up immaterialised..

But i came forward a long way now and i am a design engr now...no more a student meaning that i have some added responsibilities and now i am acountable to someone..well if u think i was accountable to someone (thinking who--my parents yaar) earlier too...that was not accountability but kindof fear..now ur boss (supervisor in my org) is in no way similar..in many ways demanding and ready to show u the door when u leave him dis-satisfied..

so i gotta be as careful n as regular as possible from now on as it has come upon my nerves..

hopefully i will end up findin time for the activity i njoy most---blogging

many plans for this summer

woke up this morning n suddenly realised that i already wasted 10 precious days of my last vacation. So as it happens during every holidays, today also i decided what my routine the coming 30 days wud b like...but the truth is that it is not followed even for a single day.

so inorder to stick to the routine atleast this last time,i m planning to write it on a paper n stick it all around in my room, hoping that everu time i see them,i will be reminded of the duty of the hour.

well if any one has better ideas about how to stick to ones routine,u r kindly asked to post them..coz this is a repeated problem of mine n may b many others too..

finished my BE

my final vacation has started. I finished my engineering..it was fun all these four years, those moments spent with frenz r cherishable forever. Now sitting idle and alone at home, i badly miss my college days. Every minute there was lively and happening.

Within a month from now,i will be packing bags for my new n tough saga as a design engineer,i am afraid if i will find time for blogging atleast...coz evrywhere it is freshers who have to work their ass off...

but inside me, there is a proud feeling, i graduated n now standing on my own feet..earning my pocket money myself and the surprising part..i will b saving too..

ok..this time now is very precious and will never come back...so let me freak out..

Nice Farewell

well, with college days coming to an end, it is farewell mood everywhere.
This week and the next, everyone's schedule is busy attending farewell of some or the other club.Yesterday we had a nice farewell given to us by our juniors from AP belonging to 2k3 and 2k4 batches. It was a nice party.Everyone enjoyed.
and two days before that we gave a treat to them for getting succesfully placed in good caompanies. That too was a cooo..l party and we kinda had a nice adventure. The intime to get into our college is 10:00 pm and that nite,by the time our party ended n we came back,it was already 11:30...we decided t take a backroute and started out on it..but unfortunately the very moment a patrolling jeep(it patrols evry 1 hr after 11to stop ny intruders) came and we all ran as fast as cheetas to hide ourselves under shadow of a tree in the far away fields. Then came 2 gaurds came on cycle, whistling n shouting 'come out!'.'come out!'... we knew tomorrow our names will be in the notice board on the suspended candidates list....but god knows ,why those gaurds never stopped at us....may be they thought we r some ghosts or may be some MCC terrorists..they peddled fast across us..
then in the drunken mood, evry one was giving his own ideas...some says 'wewill cross the river',another says' we will climb ovr the walls'..and i say 'take no risk,we will sleep here all the nite'....
but then came a call (as an inhaler for asthma patient)from our friends who managed to escape the patrolling car..that gaurds back at the main gate are lenient today and have kept the gate open ...and they r just noting our names and allow us in.
well me and 2 others were the first to dare that and soon others followed...was a kinda great adventure...

last days of college

With only 36 days left from today for me to complete my graduation and leave the college,it is a mix of feelings in mind..at one corner there is happiness that there won't be any classes, neither any exams nor any tension about marks..
but at the same time at the other corner, a fear that now u r accountable to someone outside,ur boss at office, now no longer one can get along with thing he wishes to do, u gotto attend ur office no matter what, u dont get as many holidays as u used to get in college,it is now tension from morning to evening..
but at the end of it,ther is happiness that u r earning and u stand on ur own feet, now u can spend like hell to ur whims and fancies,no one concerned about ur money,no need to sumit weekly or monthy financial reports to ur parents.
again new frenz, new place..oh god how is it going to be???

being Howard Roark

well i started reading Fountain Head novel by Ayn Rand.I hav been longing to read this book for quite a time now.
so the hero of the book is Howard Roark.Well he is quite a weirdo but an accomplisher. What's wrong with him is he never change for some one(well some may say thats the plus point).i hav the same doubt??
How gud is to be arrogant to the clients who come upto u seeking your valuable ideas and inturn when u r gettin paid for that...?
He is an architect and if i remember correctly, these r his words:' i design buildings for clients to accept them but not approach clients to design buildings'.well in the end what helped him is just his talent i wud say.
But what if one posesses equally gud talent and holds a convival relation with his clients??i wud say he will bethe best...

How great men are!!

Arthur Ashe, the legendary tennis player (The first black player to win the Wimbledon), was dying of CANCER. From world over, he received letters from his fans, one of which conveyed "Why does GOD have to select you for such a bad disease?" To this Arthur Ashe replied "The world over -- 5 crore children start playing tennis, 50 lakh learn to play tennis, 5 lakh learn professional tennis, 50,000 come to the circuit, 5000 reach , 50 reacthe grand slam Wimbledon, 4 to the semifinals, 2 to the finals. When I was holding a cup, I never asked GOD "Why me?" And today in pain I should not be asking GOD "Why me?" Happiness keeps u sweet....Trials keep u strong....Sorrow keeps u human....Failure keeps u humble....Success keeps u glowing....But only Ur Attitude & Trust keeps u going

Valentine's day special::always stay connected

SEE! here is wat can happen if u r the least bothered about what is happening around u especially when u r bitching around:
this lead to divorce:
This poem was written by a terminally ill young girl in a New York Hospital. It was sent by a medical doctor -
SLOW DANCE
Have you ever watched kids

On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rainSlapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down,
Don't dance so fast,
Time is short,
The music won't last.

Do you run through each dayOn the fly?
When you ask How are you?
Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done,
Do you lie in your bed With the next hundred choresRunning through your head?
You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.

Ever told your child,We'll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste, Not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch,Let a good friendship dieCause you never had timeTo call and say,
"Hi"You'd better slow down,
Don't dance so fast,
Time is short,
The music won't last .

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift....Thrown away.
Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the musicBefore the song is over.--------------------

Nine requisites for contented living:

Nine requisites for contented living:
Health enough to make work a pleasure.
Wealth enough to support your needs.
Strength to battle with difficulties and overcome them.
Grace enough to confess your sins and forsake them.
Patience enough to toil until some good is accomplished.
Charity enough to see some good in your neighbor.
Love enough to move you to be useful to others.
Faith enough to make real the things of God.
Hope enough to remove all anxious fears concerning the future."
— Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, German poet, dramatist and scientist (1749-1832)
